“Not all those who wander are lost” from J.R.R. Tolkien in Elvish. These words and these books mean so much to someone who has never felt she was on a clearly defined path, but still knows she is headed in the right direction.
The first tattoo I ever got is of the 3rd paragraph in my favorite book, Infinite Jest!
This is my “So it goes” tattoo, located right below my left elbow crease. The quote is from Slaughterhouse-Five or The Children’s Crusade by Kurt Vonnegut, my favorite book of all time.
The other is my oxford semicolon tattoo behind my right ear. I got both done on the same day and so far they are my favorite because they’re book related.
“Next you’ll be finding pleasure in a toothache!’ you’ll cry with a laugh”
From chaper 4 of Dostoevsky’s Notes from Underground.
“Erleichda,” from Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins is a fictional word that essentially means “lighten up” (the meaning is a bit richer in context).
“Soon he’ll come in again and kiss me, but differently. He’ll be different and so I’ll be different. It’ll be different. I thought, ‘It’ll be different, different. It must be different.”
-Jean Rhys
I was named after the children’s book Madeline and have been playing hockey my whole life. It was only fitting to get this tattoo on my foot.
My first tattoo. I wanted it for 4 years before I did it. It was never a matter of if but when. I grew up with Harry; only natural it be a part of me.
